Artist Surya Pinto

Surya is a watercolor and acrylic artist based in Long Beach, CA. She focuses on painting women and animals, two things she feels are misrepresented by society. Animals are constantly in danger due to humanity and climate change. Women need no explanation the ways the patriarchy have done them wrong. Through her art Surya brings the spotlight to those creatures of beauty, grounding the viewer in serenity and resilience.

“The Ballet of the Royal Octopus”

Extremely intelligent creatures with the ability to camouflage, the octopus is a favorite for many reasons. A curious creature of the deep, “The Ballet of the Royal Octopus” flaunts a majestic creature ready to take his place on stage.

“The Elephant”

The Elephant was a labor of love. African Elephants are a vulnerable species. Hunting, climate change, and humans threaten their population. Elephants are one of my favorite animals. I sought to bring the vibrancy of life to a species whose future is unknown.
